I never read past The Waste Lands . But, two things.
Wasn’t the gunslinger a white guy? Not that it really matters to me, just always what I pictured in my head.
And didn’t he lose his hand in book two I think? Does he somehow get it back?

I actually STARTED on The Waste Lands, it was one of the first Stephen King books I read.
He was not said to be white per se, but the accompanying artwork in the books and being described as a mixture of Clint Eastwood and Stephen King himself has led the audience (including me) to think of him as a white dood.
He did lose a few fingers, yes, but (no spoilers) if you read to the end of the books you’ll see how this is a continuation of them, not a direct re-telling.

Idris Elba, McConnaughey? I need not know anything else, I’m watching. In fact, I don’t want to know anything else!

Haha if you read the Drawing of the Three... he was definitely said to be a white guy. Like, a lot. Like, it’s a huge plot point.
I like Elba, so I have no issues with his casting, I’m just saying, in the books Roland was absolutely white.

I completely confused what I read in an interview with King yesterday with what Detta Walker screamed at him for half the damn book....

Not who I would have imagined for Flagg... Hmm. Also not what I pictured Roland like. Poor Elba. First Allanon, now this

McCaughanaheyahay looks more like my idea of Flagg/Walter than whoever that big chin’d dude in The Stand did.

I haven’t actually seen The Stand, just the book. Worth watching?
I think my issue is I knew of Walter from “Through the Eyes of the Dragon” so I always pictured him as an old school sinister dark wizard or something haha

Oh yeah. Its a bit early 90's cheese, and kinda PG since it was aired on TV, but still it does the book justice and Gary Sinise is amazing in anything he does.
